Dear Lumberjack community:
Faculty, staff, administrators, and students are invited to join the Community Engagement Team (CET) at Cal Poly Humboldt!
The CET helps foster a peaceful, safe, and respectful campus environment and guides the campus community through the free speech process in accordance with California State University’s new interim Time, Place, and Manner policy. The CET also plays a crucial role in providing support as needed during free speech activities on campus, including helping to de-escalate tense situations.
As a member of the CET, you will be required to attend a one-hour training session (virtual or in-person). You will also be required to serve in a rotational, on-call capacity, which may include some nights and evenings. Additional training will be provided throughout the academic year.
To apply to become a member of the CET, please submit an application by Wednesday, August 28. In addition to 24 individuals who will be selected, the University will choose alternate members, who will also receive training and may be asked to participate when a regular member is unavailable. Once all team members have been trained, we will continue to provide de-escalation training for the broader campus community that expresses interest.
We greatly value your experience, expertise, and perspective. This is your opportunity to help maintain a positive, constructive atmosphere where everyone’s voices are heard.
