Commencement is a special day recognizing milestone achievements, and Humboldt State is working
diligently to finalize plans for some kind of regional in-person celebrations throughout the state. More
information about dates and locations will be shared in the next few weeks.
Because the situation is changing regularly, plans will include a virtual ceremony in case there is a
need to pivot from any in-person activities. There will be a single registration that covers both the
planned in-person events and, if necessary, the virtual ceremony.
Regardless of what the ceremony looks like, students will be invited to submit a photo to commemorate
their big moment. Caps, rental gowns, tassels, hoods, and more are now available to order on the Humboldt State
Herff Jones website. Orders will be shipped directly to the students, and return
shipping for the rental gowns is included in the shipping fee of $12.95.
The safety of our Lumberjack community and their families is a priority, and our efforts will be informed by public health and university guidelines and protocols. All plans are dependent on approval by state and county public health officials and are subject to change based on the status of the pandemic.
Remember, when it’s safe to hold a traditional Commencement ceremony again, all alumni—whether they
graduate this year, last year, or several years ago—are welcome to return for Commencement in Redwood
Bowl.
Your patience and feedback are appreciated as we work to find creative and safe ways to celebrate the
success of our students.
