Forever Humboldt Families 101

Main Newsletter Story

At Humboldt State, an important part of supporting our students—especially during their freshman year—is supporting their parents and families. We’ve found that families want to be more involved than ever, and we welcome that. We want your student to succeed, and that means helping you understand their journey and stay involved.

This fall, we’ve created an online class specifically for families to learn about the HSU experience and help their students succeed. It’s called Forever Humboldt Families 101, and it’s completely free and can be taken online. It covers topics like the transition to college, academic support, getting involved on campus, staying healthy, and more.

While it’s designed with the families of first-year students in mind, there’s valuable information for the families of older students as well. As a bit of extra incentive, we’re giving an HSU sweatshirt to students when a family member completes the course.

For a detailed overview, and to sign up for the course, visit family.humboldt.edu or the Canvas course page.

Outdoor Nation Challenge

Outdoor Nation Challenge

Beginning Sept. 18, Humboldt State is looking to win the Outdoor Nation Challenge for the second year in a row. Last year, the HSU community proved its dedication to the outdoors, beating 86 other schools around the nation. Here at Humboldt State, we believe the outdoors are for everyone, no matter your background or experience. Encourage your student to participate in the challenge, take part yourself, and help HSU win great outdoor gear!
